1. Honda loves making motorcycles for everyone. They’ve got small bikes. Big bikes. Red Bikes. Blue bikes. Well they don’t really sell many blue bikes, but I was trying to do the Dr. Seuss thing. What they usually don’t offer is cheap bikes. They’ve got the Honda name and they’re s0 rEliAble so they can usually charge more than the competition and people will happily pay it. So the new information on the Honda Hornet 1000 is kind of astonishing. The Honda Execs must be privy to the success of Chili’s new marketing initiatives, directing the value of their inexpensive food to cash-strapped young people on social media. The Honda Hornet 1000 uses a detuned CBR1000RR engine that makes 150 horsepower. It has all the strappings of a modern bike, but costs less than 9,000 pounds in Europe. It is speculated that if it came stateside, both the base model and SP trim could be offered for sub $10k. That almost feels illegal.

2. It’s a sad time for anyone who was wanting to buy a $30k Italian electric motorcycle. Energica has filed for bankruptcy and are liquidating their assets. Its tough out there in the electric motorcycle game. Of all the EV motorcycle companies, I will say it is sad to see Energica be one of the first to go under. You know they were involved in MotoE and everything. That’s not my favorite racing series by any stretch, but there is some merit for any company to be involved in racing in some capacity. I guess Energica just didn’t have all the juicy Harley Davidson cash infusions that LiveWire gets.

3. With this new gap in the EV market, Royal Enfield is expected to unveil a range of electric bikes at EICMA this year. The company just figured out how to build a liquid cooled engine like a year ago, and they’re already working on electric technology? Guys, you gotta learn to walk before you can run.

4. The US Government wants to ban CFmoto. There are just too many 450SS squids making F-Tier content on social media that pose a threat to the values of the nation. Actually, it is because the US Commerce Department proposed a law that would ban vehicles with software and hardware links to China and Russia. Oh shit, that would mean no Ural too. Two birds with one stone! In the off-chance CFmoto gets banned in the US, it wouldn’t happen until 2027. Which means I would still have a chance to get a 675SS for savage review purposes.

5. KTM finally confirms that they’re going to repair busted LC8c engines under goodwill, whether they’re currently in warranty or not. I’d like to think our video on the subject helped nudge them in the right direction. Or maybe it was the 10k + members of the “KTM Cam Failure” Facebook group. Under this agreement, KTM will even reimburse owners who already paid for the repairs out of pocket. If KTM is already in a bad financial position, paying for service on thousands of bikes might really put them in a tough spot. If the warranty work continues at this rate, how will they be able to affording adding an extra 100 cc to the Super Duke every year?
